Swedish gallerist and collector Stefan Lindher has, over the last decade, amassed an impressive collection of vintage Akari lamps. His broader collection not only illuminates the story of Isamu Noguchi's functional sculptures but also reflects Lindher's passion for preserving the legacy of other influential designers such as Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier. Lindher's expertise in design curation and his keen eye for iconic pieces have made his collection one of the most comprehensive in the world.
"I have long been fascinated by Japanese aesthetic principles and pioneering modernist architects and designers, such as Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Eileen Gray. However, it was not until I encountered Charlotte Perriand's oeuvre in the context of post-war design that my enthusiasm for design truly coalesced," Lindher explains.
For Ark Kollekt 04, Lindher presents a curation of enduring designs from his vast collection, showcasing influential works that explore the dynamic intersection between art and design.
