BASTIAN BJERGE

The material itself is what truly inspires Bastian Bjerge. It challenges him to explore his own limits and engage with it throughout the process. Every phase of the process demands his full attention, he not only explores the possibilities and limitations of the material but also his own boundaries. He also finds inspiration in the history of his craft, fascinated by the antique glassblowers, and how they fired up the furnace with peak from the local marshes. He feels honored to have the opportunity to carry forward the ancient tradition of this craft.

Liquid glass is as it is a very challenging material to master, but the entire process - from melting to blowing and shaping – Bastian feels, is very rewarding.

“I believe, that timeless and small artistic pieces can be a little pause from a chaotic world” says Bastian. In a time when we must be mindful of the world´s condition and adapt to it, he strives to create timeless, long- lasting pieces. His goal is for each piece to be functional, whether for wine or flowers, but also aesthetically pleasing.

For Ark Kollekt 09 Bastian Bjerge presents a collection of five unique handcrafted mouthblown glasses and three glass goblet sculptures with white opaline. All pieces are one of a kind and are numbered and signed.
