KAROLINE ILLUM

Karoline Illum was educated at the Aarhus Academy of Arts in 2000. She has since honed her craft and has a large number of unique works and exhibitions behind her. The forest and nature in eastern Jutland are her inspiration, which is clearly expressed in the ceramics and aesthetics. Karoline is concerned with creating life and variety in her glazes. She often works layer upon layer with several types of glazes on top of each other. Therefore, the same glaze can look different from firing to firing. This means that there may be nuance differences, which is not a fault, but a distinctive feature of Karoline's approach to ceramics. Since 2018, she has collaborated with a number of restaurants to develop catering services that compliment a sensual experience.

For Ark Kollekt 09, Karoline Illum presents a collection of lunch and dinner plates in the colorways ´Løvfald´ and ‘Sand.’
