ATELIER 1991 – Sara Samsøe

Born in 1991 in Denmark with a half Iranian/half Danish parentage, Sara Samsøe embarked on an unexpected artistic journey, when she discovered her love for clay in Cape Town a few years ago.

At her creative haven, a northern Zealand cabin that is both her workshop and studio – the most peaceful place on hearth, as she describes it – she crafts unique pieces reflecting her passion for clay. As a self-taught ceramicist, she always tries to explore new ways and create new forms while working with clay. She creates sculptures, ceramic vessels, furniture and any other objects that might come to mind.

About her part in Ark Kollekt 10 she notes: “The piece, named “Everything!”, is one of a kind piece, inspired by everyone and everything around me. The wind, the ocean, family, friends, people I surround myself with, sounds and music. It is made out of white stoneware and I choose to keep it raw.”

As part of the tenth collection, Material Matters, Ark Kollekt presents a white, unglazed stoneware sculpture by Atelier 1991.
