MAJSE JUEL GRØNBJERG

In a small workshop in Fredensborg, North Zealand, Majse Juel finds her inner peace. The creative process of pottery-making offers her a sense of presence and immersion. It requires patience and teaches her to embrace slowness, which she believes brings balance to our fast-paced society.

Majse Juel draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese technique known as ´kurinuki´, which means ´to hollow´. This hand-building process involves shaping and slowly carving away clay, resulting in uniquely crafted pottery each time. As she works, her curiosity is sparked by the unique carvings, leading to variations in both shape and color. Through this intuitive process, raw edges are gradually revealed, adding an authentic, visual, and tactile dimension to the table setting.

For Ark Kollekt 09 Majse Juel presents a ceramic vase and a selection of ceramic cups.
