LES MAINS DES SOEURS LMDS

Les Mains des Soeurs is a design duo founded by Malene and Barbara Hvidt. L M D S no. 1 is the first in a series of collections based on the two creative’s relationship as sisters. This first chapter is a new and intimate collection of jewellery that explores the tactile potential amidst the softness of amber and the firmness of silver. The materials have been neatly composed to create a contrast between the soft and the solid, though with a sensibility towards organically merging the two.

As the title implies, the collection is a devotion to the hand as a creative force. All pieces have been locally handcrafted and reflects on the hand as the sensory bond between body and object and that which creates the physical bond between human beings. The contrasting materials combined with the intimacy of craftsmanship characterize the first collection of Les Mains des Soeurs.

For the eleventh collection, Ark Kollekt presents a series of seven new jewellery pieces made of sterling silver and Danish antique amber, all locally crafted by hand by artistic silversmith Andreas Jørgensen. Each piece is accompanied by a handcrafted ceramic jewellery box aligned with the sculptural richness of amber and crafted by treating the clay and ceramic material like stone. All jewellery boxes are made by ceramic artist Franca Christophersen in joint conversation with the narrative of the jewellery series.
