LISE BANG PEDERSEN

Lise Bang Pedersen is a visual artist based in Aarhus, Denmark. The character and history of materials are the heartbeat of her practice, primarily sourcing and working with repurposed linens, tablecloths and garments that carry traces of their own stories. Pedersen breathes new life into her fascination with old textiles by painting over, sewing together, and re-assembling.

Colour, layer and texture are central elements in Bang Pedersen’s creative process, working extensively with painting on canvas. She finds this the most effective arena for experimentation with composition and materiality. What emerge are works that offer meeting points for the old and new, where stories embedded in found-again materials can take a new form.
