SPIJK SELBY | ROCKY HILL FORGE

Copenhagen-based blacksmith, coppersmith, and woodworker Spijk Selby makes kitchen tools for cooks who buy once. Everything he makes is based on the principles of functionality, sustainability, and beauty.

Born in Munich, he first cooked alongside his parents at age three, sparking a love of cooking and working with his hands. He grew up and trained across the United States, mainly in New York, Massachusetts, and Colorado. He forged his first nail at a craft fair in Ghent, New York when he was 9. At 12, he took his first blacksmithing classes at Prospect Hill Forge, and later studied with Hudson Valley ironworker Noah Khoury. From age 13, he apprenticed at Hancock Shaker Village, learning from master blacksmiths before developing a style of his own.
At 17, dissatisfied with the "off the rack" tools in his own kitchen, Selby founded Rocky Hill Forge in New York's Hudson Valley, built on those principles and on the belief that the tools in your kitchen should make cooking joyous.

In 2025, the forge relocated to Copenhagen inside an internationally portable blacksmith shop built with Zoe McCormick, becoming the city's only traditional blacksmith shop.
Selby forges high-carbon steel chef's knives, hand-raised and spun tin-lined copper pans, and stainless steel servingware. He also teaches classes in traditional blacksmithing and offers whetstone knife sharpening.

For Ark Kollekt Collection #22 Spijk presents the Hand Raised Tin Lined Copper Pan.
