RAFFAELLA MANGIAROTTI

Raffaella Mangiarotti is an Italian architect and designer. Based in Milan, her practice spans product, furniture and lighting design, as well as art direction and exhibition design.
She is co-founder of deepdesign together with Matteo Bazzicalupo, the studio behind industrial products for leading international companies, including the iconic collections of small domestic appliances for SMEG.

In parallel to deepdesign, in 2010 she established her own practice, Raffaella Mangiarotti Studio, developing projects across a wide range of contexts: from premium brands such as Boffi | De Padova to democratic design companies such as IKEA.

Her works are included in the permanent collections of institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Triennale Milano, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.

In 2026 she received the Compasso d’Oro for the D’Antan armchair, designed for Boffi | De Padova.

Over the course of her career she has received more than 50 international awards, including the Compasso d’Oro, Red Dot Design Award, iF Gold Design Award, Good Design Award, European Design Award, German Design Award and the Archiproducts Design Award. She has also served on international design juries and was appointed Italian Design Ambassador worldwide by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
