SUSANNE STORM

Susanne Storm is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen, working with concrete to hand-craft large scale vessels and reliefs.

Storm’s works are defined by subtle surface movements, nuanced natural pigments, and a striking tension between the material’s weight and its apparent lightness. Each piece is entirely hand-crafted, bearing visible traces of its own creation.

Working with concrete, typically denoting weight and permanence, Storm de-stabilises material conventions. Her process relies on timing and instinct, as concrete offers only a brief window in which it can be shaped by hand before it hardens. She must intervene at precisely the right moment, when the concrete is still malleable. Resulting forms appear almost alive, characterised by the traces of their making. Nothing is concealed or overly refined. Instead, imperfections remain integral to the works’ expression.

Ark Kollekt presents a concrete vessel from Storm’s latest exhibition, ‘Residue of Movement’, for Collection #21, as seen in the third edition of DESIGN / DIALOGUE.
