NAOMI BIKIS

Bikis Ceramics is created by artist Naomi Bikis.

Based in East London, tucked away in an old Victorian mews, Naomi creates one-of-a-kind pieces, exploring handbuilding and altering wheel thrown work.

“My work seeks to play with harmony and relationship. Pieces sit together, guarding the shape of the other. The tension between each piece is a deliberate play with lightand dark, proximity and space that appeals to our sense of the ordered and chaotic, the light and the dark in human connection. Textured surfaces of raw high-fired clayand porcelain slip echo the ancient medium of ceramics and the ever more ancientearth they were made with. It is my hope to root the viewer in a sense of serenity.”

Naomiis a self-taught ceramicist with a background in fashion journalism. She traded words for clay in 2018 with the launch of her inaugural collection,’Soft, Soft, Hard’ at
the London Design Fair. She has most recently exhibited at Serchia Gallery.
