At just 24 years old, Perriand showcased her innovative prowess with a collection of metal furniture pieces that garnered critical acclaim. Transitioning in the mid-1930s, Perriand delved into experimentation with natural elements like wood and cane. Her journey to Japan in 1940, serving as an official advisor on industrial design to the Ministry for Trade and Industry, profoundly influenced her, sparking a fascination with traditional Japanese materials and techniques.
