JAMIE GAUNT

Jamie Gaunt is the founder and creative director of Jamie Gaunt Designs, a woodcarving studio based in Kent, England. Blending both contemporary and ancient carving tools and techniques in his design process, Gaunt imbues a timeless visual language throughout his works.

Gaunt’s attention is always drawn to the dialogue between natural form and texture, leading with a free-carving approach that permits each work a rhythm unique to its material characteristics. The free-carving style enables Gaunt a freedom of expression in his craft, and the opportunity to preserve the integrity of the natural makeup of his chosen material.
