NATALIA CRIADO

Born and raised in Colombia, Natalia Criado studied industrial design at IED in Milan and founded her studio there in 2011. Her objects draw on pre-Columbian forms and bring together the cultural legacies of Colombia, where she was born, and Italy, the country that adopted her.

She works closely with artisans in both countries, whom she sees as creative partners. Using brass, glass, gemstones and ceramic, she makes pieces by hand with minimal, geometric shapes.

Her process starts with sculpting in wax and ends in casting, exploring how metals change as they are transformed.

For Ark Kollekt 03, in collaboration with Studio X Kitchen, Natalia presents the silver-plated Teiera Teapot with rose quartz stone detail and silver-plated geometric server set, Artefacto.

For Ark Kollekt 22, Natalia presents the Fruit Bowl 18 and the Simple Coffee, both in Silver-plated brass with white stone.
