GUSTAF NORDENSKIÖLD

Swedish designer Gustaf Nordenskiöld uses clay, porcelain, and glass to create design items that evoke a memory or place in time. A raw bowl with layers of rich glaze in the middle, a thick ceramic jam spoon; items that sit on the table as though decorating a dreamscape; these are the objects that draw attention, moving the eye around the table.

Gustav has been working in glass and ceramics for over 20 years, in the worlds of both art and design. His interest in exploring location and culture culminates in a focus on everyday objects, such as the ceramic butter knife and spoons chosen for Ark Kollect 03. These pieces are made with a simplicity that belies their considered design, while also revealing in the act of creation itself.

For Ark Kollekt 03, he presents The Butter Knife, The Mustard Knife and The Jam Spoon, made of unglazed and glazed stoneware.
