MARIA KRISTOFERSSON

Maria Kristofersson is a Swedish artist, living and working in Gothenburg. Kristofersson’s body of work spans sculpture, functional ceramics and works on paper.

Drawing and painting form the basis of Kristofersson’s clay work. Her square and cylindrical vessel shapes may be understood as three-dimensional drawings that transcend function. Kristofersson works intuitively, crafting primarily unglazed works that emphasise lines and surface structure. Working with a subdued colour palette, deceptively robust forms and thin walls evoke a sense of fragility and sensitivity.
