Bente Østergaard Sørensen presents three sculptures for Collection 16, each informed by the raw, volatile beauty of the Aarhus coastal landscapes and the North Sea, where the ceramicist is based.

No two outcomes are ever alike in Sørensen’s works, for her practice is rooted in technical experimentation, reflecting an appreciation for the imperfect. Marks from hands and tools are visible, and a raw, untouched expression is preserved despite Sørensen’s dedicated, thoughtful craft. Nature and process are allowed to be present, and the inherent character of the material is given the freedom to shape the form.
