Hua’s paperweight-like sculptures evoke ruinous, decaying melancholy and the delicate balance of hope at once. Hua’s signature eroded, almost torn surface textures create transparent spaces that conjure the wonder of in-between moments. Drawn to the tactile, fragile nature of ceramic as a medium, Hua’s works inspire contemplation on the beauty of precarity.
