For Collection 14, Ark Kollekt presents Stapleford Sycamore No.4 and Barton Cherry No.1, a cup and a bowl by Glenn Dane.
Barton Cherry No.1 is hand-carved from sustainably sourced cherry wood, worked while still green—freshly felled and rich with natural moisture. This traditional method allows the form to emerge fluidly as the wood dries, gently shifting and shrinking over time. Subtle hairline splits may appear, especially near the center rings, where tension is highest—a quiet testament to the organic process and the life of the material itself.
The bowl is finished with a blend of tea, iron, and linseed oil, giving the cherry a rich, earthy tone and a soft sheen that deepens over time. The result is a piece that celebrates both craftsmanship and the unpredictable elegance of green wood.
Due to the nature of the material and the finish, this bowl is intended for decorative use only. It is not suitable for liquids or cleaning products but makes an ideal vessel for dried flowers, light objects, or as a sculptural centerpiece in any setting.
