Tell us a little about yourself.
After a life of moving to different cities such as Stockholm, London and Newport Beach, we’ve settled down in the north of the Netherlands – my husband and our two kids. I love to practise ceramic art and I’m a real salad master chef. I recently launched my own label, a luxury minimal belt line Taljé. I believe a high-quality leather belt is a celebration of craftsmanship and time, something we have lost track of in this fast-paced social media driven world.
Being a designer yourself, how would you describe your creative process and where do you find inspiration?
Well, not from Instagram. Nowadays it's hard to find good inspiration because algorithms are flattening out creativity – everything becomes the same. So I turn to old-school – old magazines I find on Etsy such as Vogues from the 90's. Movies inspire me too.
Who are your favourite designers?
I like to look at Vincent van Duysen because he creates beautiful things, but he's also very commercial. He is living proof those two can go hand-in-hand. What he does for Zara is amazing. He doesn't compromise, and that to me is cool, the fact that you agree to work with a high-street brand but dare to ask for quality.
