Lis Anderson almost exclusively works with various types of wood and stone. The authoritarianism that lies in format and frontality is contradicted by the vulnerability that is a consequence of the encounter between these two inherently different materials. The interplay between the hard stone and comparatively soft wood creates a palpable tension within the piece while simultaneously working together, resulting in a beautiful material harmony.  

Crafted from diabase, marble, and wood, the piece brings together materials of various integral qualities which, fused together, create an elegant balance.
