For Collection 14, Ark Kollekt presents Contour I and Contour II, two gypsum sculptures created by Katrine Blinkenberg, founder of Fire Paper Run. Shaped in the quiet hours of the evening, these works are the result of a deeply personal and hands-on process. Working from her home, the artist mixes plaster by hand—lifting 25 kg sacks of gypsum from a basement storage room to her eighth-floor apartment, where the sculptures take form on a carefully protected floor.
The casting process is both physically demanding and time-sensitive. Yet the resulting material—plaster—is quiet, almost meditative in its presence. While commonly used as a preparatory medium, here it stands as the final form.
Contour I and Contour II explore form and surface through simplicity and restraint. The gypsum's matte texture and pale tone highlight the sculptural contours, allowing light to shape the work as much as the material itself. Each piece carries the imprint of its making—immediate, tactile, and intimately connected to the artist's domestic space.
